Job Summary

 

This position is responsible for preparing for transport and delivering all intercampus communications, supplies, and equipment to Georgia Highlands College's educational sites. The Courier will deliver campus deliveries to the on-campus departments or receiving locations and pick up any outgoing mail, supplies, or equipment. This position will assist in the sorting of mail and preparation of the college's daily deliveries and may also assist with the receiving of deliveries into the college's centralized receiving location.

 

Responsibilities

 

Is responsible to understand, support, and carry out the college's mission, vision, and values and comply with mandates and regulations of government and accrediting bodies

 

Operates/drives vehicle to deliver campus deliveries to the on-campus departments or receiving locations and pickup any outgoing items (mail, moneys, books, supplies, equipment) for delivery to other college locations/destinations

 

Operates forklift, floor jack, or hand truck in the loading and unloading of items/packages/materials

 

Assists in the sorting of item pickups and deliveries and prepares sorted items to be delivered according to the delivery route or plan and follows the most efficient routing to the specific college's centralized receiving location

 

Prepares items/parcels for shipment by campus courier or other vendors

 

Obtains receiver signature or receipts upon delivery to receiving location

 

Records information into database for deliveries and pickups

 

Follows established guidelines to maintain surplus property to include storage, disposal, and recordkeeping for the property

 

Assists with maintaining surplus property to include storage, disposal, and recordkeeping for the property

 

Maintains assigned motor vehicle/equipment; maintains vehicle logs and reports any mechanical problems as appropriate

 

Assists with the relocation of college furniture and equipment

 

Assists in other areas of the department as needed

 

Performs other related duties as assigned

 

Required Qualifications

 

• Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of training in the field of work, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education or equivalent.

• Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one (1) to two (2) years

• Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license for the type of vehicle or equipment operated

 

Proposed Salary

 

$19.23/hour
