Job Summary
This position prepares and delivers instruction as a part-time instructor for Georgia Highlands College, a multi-site college within the University System of Georgia.
Responsibilities
• Teaches 30 credit hours per academic year as assigned with a mixture of remote and on-site instruction
• Adopts and implements common course objectives as required by the division and discipline
• Manages courses through systematic use of appropriate syllabi and accurate, professional records of students' class performance, attendance and grades
• Announces and keeps regular office hours, dedicating 8 hours or more per week, remote or on-site,
to assist students
• Maintains involved and knowledgeable participation in academic advising of students as requested by the School of Business
• Offers professional assistance in curriculum development, review, and instructional materials selection. Develops courses as needed.
• Participates in the extended work of the college through participation in committees of the college or faculty, student organizations, and attends School of Business meetings, full faculty meetings, town hall meetings, in-service training, and graduation
• Engages in functions of evidence-based academic and program assessment, as required for accreditation, college compliance, and continuous review and improvement of student learning outcomes
• Reviews and considers student evaluations and feedback as part of a continuous improvement process of individual courses and overall program outcomes
• Demonstrates meaningful service to the community and to the profession
• Pursues continued professional development in the academic discipline, technological applications for the classroom, and innovations and enhancement in teaching and learning
• Assists in the planning and execution of advisory board meetings, recruits firms for membership, and implements actions resulting from board input
• Helps develop and sustain industry, chamber, business, community, and discipline-specific professional organization connections
• Participates in the delivery, development, and review of an integrated business curriculum, teaching any course in the program for which the instructor is credentialed, and collaborating with all faculty within the School of Business
• Undertakes special projects and activities to increase student knowledge of and connections to statistical data analysis and how the analysis applies to business and management operations in local firms and industry
• Performs related duties
Required Qualifications
• Must have at least one of the following:
• A Master's degree in statistics, data analysis, or a closely related field
• An MBA with professional experience in statistical analysis, data analysis, or a closely related field
• A Master's degree in any field with at least 18 semester or 30 quarter graduate hours in statistical analysis, data analysis, or a closely related field.
Please note: Varying combinations of professional experience, industry certifications, undergraduate education, or graduate classes in statistics, data analysis, or a closely related field will be considered in lieu of strict credit-hour or degree content requirements.
• Prior teaching experience, including the use of current classroom technology with evidence of above-average teaching ability across multiple student types
• Evidence of effective communication skills
• Willingness to engage with institutional student success initiatives
• Commitment to engaging with best practices in instruction and pedagogy, mentoring, and curriculum design and development
• Willingness to work at different instructional sites as needed. Some evening courses are a possibility
Preferred Qualifications
• Doctorate in Education, statistics, data analytics or related fields
• Experience working with a diverse student body or workforce
• Prior professional experience in statistical and/or data analysis and its application to business and industry operational decisions and process improvement
• Statistics or data analysis certifications or professional organization affiliations
• Experience teaching in different modalities including face-to-face, online, and video-conferencing (i.e. Zoom, etc)
• Knowledge of various statistical analysis software packages including Excel and MiniTab
Proposed Salary
$45,000-$55,000 annually
