Georgia Highlands College is a multi-campus, state college member of the University System of Georgia. Job Summary

This position provides support in the Writing Center to students in developing their writing skills and achieving their academic goals.

Responsibilities

• Support and carry out the college's mission, values, and strategic priorities in compliance with the mandates and regulations of the University System of Georgia and all associated accrediting agencies

• Provide one-on-one or small group assistance to students across various disciplines

• Schedule and manage appointments for consultations

• Maintain records of student visits and sessions

• Assist in developing online resources and content for the Writing Center's website or learning management system

• Assist in planning and conducting writing workshops and events aimed at improving students' writing skills.

• Assist in promoting Writing Center services and events

• Utilize various software programs and online platforms to facilitate remote sessions

• Provide basic technical support to students using writing and citation tools

• Maintain timely and proper communication with students, faculty, and staff of the college via phone, email, and other electronic means

• Engage in all required reporting for student progress in a timely manner

• Perform related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

• Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a bachelor's degree in English or a related discipline

• Available to work varying schedule/hour (days, evenings, or weekends) at any GHC location

• Knowledge of Board of Regents policies

• Knowledge of GHC policies and procedures, and human resources policies

• Skill in oral and written communication

• Skill in the preparation of clear and accurate reports

• Ability to teach writing skills

• Ability to communicate effectively
