Job Summary
Under the supervision and direction of the Assistant Vice President of Student Success and Dean of Students, the Coordinator - Student Success & Conduct is primarily responsible for supporting the mission of Georgia Highlands College (GHC), offering strategic direction in improving academic success, persistence, and graduation rates of students at GHC. The coordinator will provide administrative oversight, including resource development, and coordinating initiative-related support for at-risk and minority students.
Responsibilities
• Is responsible to understand, support, and carry out the college's mission, vision, and values and comply with mandates and regulations of government and accrediting bodies.
• Create and implement training programs and workshops to educate the community about the student code of conduct.
• Adjudicate student conduct cases in a fair and impartial manner.
• Conduct investigations and facilitate hearings for alleged violations of the Student Code of Conduct, ensuring due process and confidentiality.
• Develop and maintain accurate records of student conduct cases and outcomes, ensuring proper documentation in accordance with institutional policy.
• Develop end-of-semester and annual reports on activities, interventions, individual student and target group progress and outcomes, goals, and objectives.
• Analyze student retention data to identify at-risk students and develop targeted support plans to improve retention rates. Uses predictive analytics to identify and track cohort of incoming at-risk students.
• Is responsible for GHAME initiative (Georgia Highlands African American and Minority Male Excellence) program development, planning, and implementation, including establishing strategy, initiatives, goals, objectives, and assessment measures for minority students.
• Performs other assigned duties
Required Qualifications
• Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a bachelor's degree in a course of study related to the occupational field
• Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one (1) to two (2) years
• Experience working with minority student or diversity initiatives required; coursework in leadership helpful; grant experience useful. Strong communication skills required. Previous experience with a two-year college setting is strongly preferred
• Possession of ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license for the type of vehicle or equipment operated
