Job Summary

 

Under direct supervision of a supervisor or appointee, this position performs entry-level grounds keeping and landscape maintenance duties at campus/instructional site grounds.

 

This position is located at GHC Floyd Campus

 

Responsibilities

 

• Is responsible to understand, support, and carry out the college's mission, vision, and values and comply with mandates and regulations of government and accrediting bodies.

 

• Cares for the campus grounds, such as mowing lawns, watering flowers and shrubbery, trimming trees and bushes, etc.

 

• Operates appropriate equipment/tools to:

 

o Mow grass and trim weeds to maintain campus landscape

 

o Edge sidewalks and natural areas

 

o Remove leaves/debris from sidewalks, parking lots, tennis courts, pavilions, and fitness trail

 

o Prune trees and shrubs

 

o Plant flowers and maintain flower beds

 

• Places pine straw, hardwood mulch, gravel and other ground covers in landscape

 

• Applies herbicides to landscape

 

• Walks the assigned campus area, collecting and removing trash from campus grounds

 

• Collects trash and debris and places in disposal containers/areas

 

• Maintains grounds maintenance equipment

 

• Sets up and removes tables and chairs for special events

 

• Assists in set-ups in designated areas for special meetings and events.

 

• Assists in inclement weather duties, such as clearing snow from sidewalks, parking lots, etc

 

• Performs other duties as assigned

 

Required Qualifications

 

• Ability to read, write and perform mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with the completion of high school or equivalent

 

• Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years

 

• Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license for the type of vehicle or equipment operated

 

Proposed Salary

 

$33,508.00 annually
