Job Summary

This program provides students with an opportunity to develop first-hand knowledge of the library science profession and gain hands on experience. This position assists with organizing, cataloging, digitizing, and processing archival materials and assisting with displays and exhibits, offering library support, and gaining experience in archival practices.'

This position is onsite at our Cartersville Campus

Must be currently enrolled full-time in accredited college in a relevant program (library science, history, etc.)

Responsibilities

• Is responsible to understand, support, and carry out the college's mission, vision, and values and comply with mandates and regulations of government and accrediting bodies.'

• Archival Material Handling:

• Assisting with the organization, arrangement, and processing of archival materials'

• Cataloging and describing archival collections'

• Assisting with the digitization, preservation and conservation of materials'

• Research and Reference:

• Answering patron inquiries related to archival materials'

• Assisting researchers with locating and accessing materials'

• Display and Exhibits:

• Assisting with the planning and preparation of archival displays and exhibits'

• Creating labels and interpretive materials for exhibits'

• Other Duties:

• Fulfilling tasks assigned by supervisor'

• Performing clerical duties, such as filing and data entry'

• Assisting with library operations, such as shelving books or helping patrons'

• Learning technical skills related to archives and libraries.'

• Performs other duties as assigned.'

Required Qualifications

• Currently enrolled full-time in accredited college in a relevant program (library science, history, etc.)

• Completion of at least the introductory courses in archives principles and practices via an accredited library science program is preferred.

Proposed Salary

This is an UNPAID Intern position

19 hrs or less per week
