STATE BOARD OF WORKERS’ COMPENSATION
2018 REGIONAL EDUCATIONAL SERIES

The Honorable Frank R. McKay, Chairman of the Georgia State Board of Workers’ Compensation, along with Board Directors Honorable Elizabeth D. Gobeil and Honorable Benjamin Vinson and Executive Director Delece A. Brooks, will visit select cities throughout Georgia as part of the 2018 Regional Educational Series. The Board, under their leadership, will host five seminars throughout Georgia to educate those impacted by the Georgia workers’ compensation system. This program will provide valuable information for employers, self-insureds, human resource and risk managers, claims adjusters, rehabilitation specialists, medical service providers, workers’ compensation attorneys, paralegals, and other system participants.

The program will include presentations regarding recent developments in State Board Rules, legislation and case law along with ICMS II and EDI updates. A panel with local claimants’ and defense counsel, and employer/insurer representatives will discuss transitional return-to-work programs, changes in condition, the new petition for medical treatment, and nurse case management Rule 200.2. A second panel will discuss issues employers face as a claim moves to a hearing including the posted panel, surveillance, mediation/settlement, aggravation of pre-existing conditions and light duty job offers. Finally, the seminar will feature lively audience participation in a “mock trial” as a claimant’s attorney presents witnesses for the injured worker and employer’s counsel provides a defense to the claim.

This activity has been submitted to AAOHN for approval to award contact hours. “AAOHN is accredited as an approver of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.”

In addition, applications have been submitted for approval for the following hours: Legal (CLE); CCMC/CDMSC/CRCC; Insurance Agents/Adjusters (GA); and Human Resources (HRCI).
