Friends of Red Top Rallies to Help After Fire

On Sunday, June 19, the park office (formerly the lodge) at Red Top Mountain was severely damaged by fire.  The Discovery Room (pictured here) that the Friends of Red Top have worked so hard with donors and partners to make a reality was badly damaged if not destroyed.  Additionally, the office facilities and restrooms will not be usable for quite some time.  Fortunately, nobody was hurt (not even our critters in the Discovery Room).

Friends of Red Top has committed to help make sure programming at Red Top will continue despite this tragedy.  The Friends group sponsors many guest programs like Mountain Music Series, Junior Ranger camps, Harvest at the Homestead, Iron Pours, and others.  We refuse to let this fire get in the way of these fantastic programs.

But, we need your help!  The bathroom facilities are unusable, so we've brought in a trailer.  The Lakeside Meeting room that we used in case of rain is severely damaged, so we've purchased a huge tent.  Animal displays, food and supplies were all damaged and have to be replaced.  And on and on.  We expect the short-term expenses to help keep our summer programs running and to support park staff with their urgent needs will exceed $10,000!

Please, consider a tax-deductible donation to the Friends of Red Top Mountain to help us get the park through this rough time and to help ensure you all can continue enjoying the programs we've worked so hard to create!  Click Here to donate!
