FedEx will disburse $120,500 through grants to small businesses to help local entrepreneurs expand operations.

Through the initiative, 10 small businesses will win grants ranging from $7,500 to $25,000. Winners will also get credit for print and business services from the company.

“We’ve learned a lot about the unique challenges small businesses face and it’s exciting to see the many ways our past winners have used their FedEx grants to grow and expand, both here in the U.S. and across the globe,” said Scott Harkins, the company’s senior vice president of customer channel marketing.

According to FedEx, the national contest is open to U.S.-based for profit small businesses that have been operation for more than six months with fewer than 99 employees. [...]

Last year’s winner, Sword and Plough, a Denver apparel company that supports veteran employment utilized the proceeds to expand its operations to 40 states and four other countries.

“FedEx understands the challenges small businesses face and their expertise has been an important part of the Sword & Plough journey,” said Emily Núñez, CEO of the company.

Small businesses can submit contest entries through March 28.  There will be a voting period from February 28 to April 4 with the Top 100 submissions being announced on April 12. The final winners will be announced April 24.
