Cartersville Downtown Development Authority Announces Free Wi-Fi Accessibility in Downtown
CARTERSVILLE, GA – Those shopping, dining or enjoying special events in downtown Cartersville will notice a new amenity to enjoy – free Wi-Fi. The fast broadband is available from Public Square to Wall Street, and Main Street to Church Street, though other areas of downtown may also be able to join the network. The free network is named ‘Free City Wifi.’
“Availability to Wi-Fi downtown is something I have heard City Council members, downtown business and property owners, and visitors share their desire in having,” said Downtown Development Authority Manager Tara Currier. “The DDA’s long-term goal, which will be several years to complete implementation, is to offer free Wi-Fi accessibility throughout the entire downtown business district. Though it may be difficult to connect the further you get from the train depot, I believe that visitors and residents alike will be able to enjoy this great new amenity in much of our downtown business district.”
With the recent approval of the amended Business Improvement District (B.I.D.) budget, this was one of the first projects DDA board wanted to see implemented, based on feedback from downtown business and property owners, as well as survey responders and key stakeholders during the Downtown Master Plan process. Many thanks go to the City’s Fibercom Department for getting the installation in so quickly after the start of the DDA’s new fiscal year.
In the coming days and weeks, DDA will be working with Public Works to install signage letting people know of the free Wi-Fi accessibility and with the Promotions Committee on window decals made for interested business and property owners to place in their storefronts.
