Advocates announces Terminus Wake Park as
location for Duck Derby 2015

CARTERSVILLE, GA-OCTOBER 2, 2014: Advocates for Children is excited to announce the location for the 2015 Duck Derby fundraising event which will be held in the fall of 2015 at Terminus Wake Park located in the LakePoint Sporting Community.

Duck Derby is a fun event for everyone involved and a great way to raise money for those in need. This will be the 14th annual swimming of the ducks. In the most recent years, this event has taken place in the Etowah River at the Riverside Day Use Area.

“We are absolutely delighted to be partnering with Terminus for the Duck Derby in 2015.  There will be lots of exciting new changes to the event as it enters its 14th year, some of which we haven’t even thought of yet, and it is wonderful that the Terminus teams’ dedication to children matches ours.  We will teach them to quack.   It’s the beginning of a beautiful friendship with them, as LakePoint is almost our nearest neighbor,” Patty Eagar, CEO and president of Advocates for Children.

Duck Derby entails purchasing a rubber duck; you receive a number while Advocates holds onto the actual rubber duck to go into the water. Duck adoption packages range from $5 to $250. All duck adoptions are an entry to the race, and every duck has a chance to win the grand prize vehicle and other outstanding prizes. On the day of the event, approximately 20,000 ducks are released into the water and the first duck selected is the winner of the car.

Terminus Wake Park is part of the Lake Point Sporting Community development. When Advocates began brainstorming ideas for the 2015 Duck Derby the idea of a new location came up and Terminus seemed like a perfect fit. Staff of Advocates worked closely with the management of LakePoint and Terminus and both entities quickly agreed this would be a great location for the next Duck Derby.

“We also see it as a way to help promote Terminus.  We know most everyone has driven by and seen Terminus, but they may not have pulled in to see exactly what is available,” said Eagar.  Terminus will have a home office and full landscaping completed by the time of the Duck Derby which will be a wonderful benefit to the event and those attending.
