Advocates Announces Shane Priest at Director of Flowering Branch Children's Shelter

ADVOCATES ANNOUNCES SHANE PRIEST AS DIRECTOR OF FLOWERING BRANCH CHILDREN’S SHELTER
CARTERSVILLE, GA-OCTOBER 2, 2014: Patty Eagar, President and CEO of Advocates for Children is delighted to announce Shane Priest as the director of the Flowering Branch Children’s Shelter.
Priest comes to Advocates from the Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) with over eight years of experience as a Juvenile Probation\Parole Specialist working with delinquent and at risk youth. He brings a wealth of knowledge in the management of juvenile youth which creates an ideal transition as director of the Flowering Branch Children’s Shelter (FBCS).
Prior to his career with DJJ, Priest followed in the footsteps of his family working with the Georgia State Patrol for over six years. Priest holds a Master’s of Science in Youth Development from Kansas State University.
“Shane is a true asset to our organization, and our outstanding shelter program will thrive under his leadership. He has really hit the ground running. His first morning on the job, he was over at Juvenile Court, advocating for one of our residents so she will not slip through the cracks, and can be on the way to finding a happy and safe long term family and home,” says Eagar.
As director of FBCS, Priest is responsible for all shelter programs, including accreditation, establishing policies and procedures, staff coverage, crisis intervention, and oversight of daily operations.
Priest grew up in Bartow County, graduated from Cass High School then continued his education at Young Harris College, Reinhardt University and Kansas State University. Priest and his wife Katie, along with their two children and third expected in late October, attend Trinity United Methodist Church.
