Job Description

SUMMARY: The Advocacy Coordinator is responsible for CASA Volunteer supervision, training and coordination of assigned volunteers to ensure child victims of abuse and neglect receive advocacy and quality representation within the judicial system. This is a grant funded position set to run through October 2026.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervise CASA volunteers and assist them when necessary. Communicate with all assigned CASA volunteers at a minimum of once per month.
  • This position is grant funded and has the potential to be time limited and may end in October 2026.
  • Coordinate case assignments with the court and the volunteers.
  • Accompany volunteers on initial home visits to meet the child and the caregiver. Coordinator may go on multiple home visits with the volunteer, depending on the case.
  • Assist volunteers in writing reports regarding updates of child/children with volunteer.
  • Review and distribute reports to volunteer, DFCS, and court personnel for the case.
  • Attend all court hearings and education meetings with volunteers.
  • Assist with planning and execution of regular volunteer peer meetings and volunteer appreciation events.
  • Assist with teaching volunteer in-service trainings.
  • Maintain program and volunteer files.
  • Maintain relationships with various stakeholders relating to programs led by Advocates.
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality regarding clients and services provided to each individual.
  • Provide program assistance and support for Advocates, specifically for events.
  • Interact with clients and team members, at appropriate times, in a friendly, service-oriented manner. Maintain a friendly and warm demeanor at all times with both team members and clients.
  • Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Advocates standards.
  • Have knowledge and understanding of all department policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to PQI and attend meetings as required.
  • Assist with volunteer outreach efforts, recognition programs and file checklists.
  • Provide all other services as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • You will be expected to supervise your volunteers and assist them when necessary. You are required to work with them when their work is not acceptable and to attempt to increase their skills.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services, Psychology, Sociology or a related field. Have at least 2 years’ experience working with families and children. Or have graduated with a master’s degree; Bi-lingual in English and Spanish preferred.
  • Must pass a pre-employment criminal background check and drug screen.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and current insurance.
  • Proficient written and oral skills.
  • Basic word processing knowledge is required.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
