Job Description Summary

This position supports the work of the Paulding Library by serving the faculty, students, and staff of Georgia Highlands College. S/he is tasked with designing/updating an appropriate and modern web and social media presence for GHC Libraries and Testing Services. Typical library functions, such as circulation, events/programs, maintaining a popular book collection, and professional development are equally key to success. The incumbent serves on at least one library working group.

Key Qualifications

• Associate degree or higher in web development, graphic design, marketing, or related field; or Associate degree or higher in another field, plus web development experience.
• Willingness to learn library policy and procedures

Key Responsibilities

• Designs and updates the library and testing websites
• Creates and maintains library marketing and social media presence for respective libraries
• Updates library social media accounts and posts as often as is typical of best practices
• Provides circulation, public service, and reference assistance to library patrons
• Performs opening and closing duties of the library
• Receives, processes, shelves and/or distributes library materials; maintains college library reserve and periodicals materials; updates related records; and creates bibliographic and serials control records
• Recommends, promotes, operates, and maintains innovative library technology such as: drones, 3D printers, etc.
• Processes GIL Express and Intercampus Loan requests
• Maintains and inventories office and library supplies, and communicates supply needs to Library administrative assistant
• Assists with collection development, in particular, the poptitle collection
• Attends meetings, training sessions, workshops, and webinars
• Supervises the work of student assistants
• Performs related duties

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Educational or practical experience in graphic design, web development, or marketing, as well as a willingness to apply those skills in a library setting.
• Knowledge of college policies and procedures
• Knowledge of modern office practices and procedures
• Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs
• Skill in the provision of customer services
• Skill in oral and written communication
• Educational or practical experience in graphic design, web development, or marketing, as well as a willingness to apply those skills in a library setting.
