This position directs the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning, including instructional design and faculty development initiatives for the College.

Key Qualifications

? Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a doctorate in a course of study related to the occupational field.
? Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the work of subordinate positions to be able to answer questions and resolve problems, usually associated with one to three years of experience or service.
? Higher education teaching experience preferred.

Key Responsibilities

? Provides vision and leadership for the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL), including instructional design and faculty development initiatives.
? Contributes to college-wide strategic planning efforts for matters related to instructional design and faculty development.
? Assesses needs for faculty development, including new, veteran, and part-time faculty.
? Manages instructional design projects and problems.
? Provides leadership for individual and group training on a wide variety of pedagogical approaches and practices.
? Researches and disseminates best practices in college teaching and learning.
? Provides leadership in the management, staffing, and budgeting of the CETL.
? Develops, implements, and assesses programs that support faculty development and the CETL.
? Facilitates new faculty orientation, New Faculty Academy, and faculty mentoring programs.
? Communicates with senior leadership team(s) about CETL initiatives, progress, and needs.
? Promotes a culture of faculty engagement and collaboration through programming, outreach, and publicity.
? Aids in developing and sustaining institutional policies, practices, and infrastructure that recognize and celebrate faculty success and achievements.
? Consults with other divisions and/or departments to meet goals of ongoing and new initiatives related to instructional design, faculty development, and student success.
? Manages TLC and related websites and collateral.
? Serves as Blackboard Collaborate trainer, facilitator, and secondary administrator.
? Participates in wide variety of committee work at departmental and college level.
? Serves as USG CTL-Consortium representative.
? Teaches at least one academic course per year.
? Performs other duties related to the job.

? Knowledge of University System of Georgia policies
? Knowledge of Georgia Highlands College policies and procedures
? Knowledge of a wide variety of educational, instructional design, and human performance improvement models and theories
? Knowledge of group and personalized training strategies
? Knowledge of effective formative and summative evaluation and assessment techniques
? Knowledge of course development and implementation strategies
? Knowledge of institutional budgeting
? Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs
? Skill in online pedagogy and classroom management
? Skill in communicating with full- and part-time faculty and staff
? Skill in the completion of required reports
? Skill in oral and written communication
