The opening Plenary will make the case for investing in workforce development in our community. Deputy Director of Economic Development, Matthew Thomas, will discuss opportunities coming to Bartow and Taylor will share some of the ways the Chamber is innovating efforts in our community, laying the groundwork for the following sessions.

10:00-11 Second Chance Hiring Panel
Learn how the Workforce Reentry and Advancement Program (WRAP) at Bartow County Jail integrates essential life skills training, targeted workforce development, and comprehensive wrap-around support services to pave the way for successful reentry into the workforce. Panelists—including Taylor Van Pelt, the Chamber’s Workforce Development Director; Major Mark Mayton of the Bartow County Sheriff’s Office; and Janet Queen—will share insights on overcoming barriers to employment, fostering community partnerships, and creating sustainable pathways for individuals in this unique talent pool.

This session delves into innovative strategies to effectively engage and retain the Hispanic demographic—currently the fastest-growing group in both Bartow County and across Georgia. Participants will gain insights into best practices for outreach, skill development, and creating supportive workplace environments that drive sustainable career growth and regional economic success. Join us to explore how intentional, community-focused approaches can unlock the full potential of Hispanic talent in today’s evolving workforce.

This Session will explore the creative solutions Toyo Tires has implemented to hire students under 18 through a unique work-based learning program in partnership with a staffing agency. Panelists will share the challenges and successes of navigating youth employment regulations while providing meaningful work experiences for school-aged students. Learn how Toyo Tires utilizes this partnership to offer valuable career development opportunities, skill-building programs, and a pathway for future talent, all while ensuring compliance with labor laws and supporting the local community’s workforce needs.
