Are you ready for the Zombie Apocalypse?? Or maybe just the next snowpocalypse? Whether you are lost in the wilderness or marooned by the weather, preparation is everything. Participants can visit three stations to learn essential skills. Wes Harmon with TruPrep in Marietta will demonstrate how to put together a “bugout bags” for home, office & even your car. Preserve Educator Mary Ann Pawlowski will lead a station on firestarters & water filtering. Sonya Wood Mahler will focus on map reading and compass skills. Presentations will be at 10:30 & 11:30 am and 12:30 & 1:30 pm. Crafts & activities for children age 3-11 will be ongoing all day. 

Admission is $3 per person/max $10 per family or FREE to members and includes parking & hiking.

Visitors may hike one of the Preserve’s three trails that range in length from a stroll of .25 mi to a 1.7 mi loop trail around the lake. Leashed dogs are welcome, but the trails do not accommodate strollers. Please arrive no later than 4 pm so you will have time to finish your hike before we close.

Mary Ann Pawlowski is a retired educator who spent 30 years in Cartersville & Bartow County school systems who joined the Preserve staff in 2014. With a lifelong interest in camping, hiking & nature, Mary Ann is thrilled to work at the Preserve and has received hundreds of hours of training including as a Certified Interpretive Guide (through the National Association of Interpretation) and Master Naturalist (through the Warnell School of Forestry and Natural Resources).
