Have you heard? There’s a great day coming, a historic day, a day of celebration in Bartow County! May 10th at 2:00 pm is the Unveiling event of the sculpture entitled, “Pathways to Freedom: A Story in Every Stitch”. It is aesthetic, historical and educational, symbolizing the hopes and dreams of freedom for generations of humanity under slavery. It attests to the indomitable human spirit with a unifying message of hope for all.
The monument is presented by the African American Quilt Documentation Project of Bartow County and portrays a quilt motif. It will be unveiled in front of City Hall in downtown Cartersville and you are invited.
This event includes a program, African American musicians and nationally recognized speaker, Phyllis Lawson, author of QUILT OF SOULS. Rev. W.J.E. Coombs will give tribute to the 50th anniversary of two important events in AA history.
