Name: Lunch and Learn: The Ancient Ways of the Cherokee @ Cartersville Library
Date: September 24, 2018
Time: 12:30 PM - 1:30 PM EDT
Event Description:
Join us for an interesting and engaging lecture with Mark Warren, owner of Medicine Bow Wilderness School in Dahlonega, GA. Mark has been teaching survival skills as practiced by the Cherokee people for more than 40 years. He will discuss how some of our most common native plants and trees were used by the Cherokee for food, medicine, shelter, and fire. He will also bring along live specimens of these plants and some crafts. Learning about these ancient skills and using them today promotes an atavistic connection to our natural environment. Mark will also have his Secrets of the Forest book series and Two Winters in a Tipi available for sale and autograph. Feel free to bring your lunch and eat while you learn!
