Government Affairs meets on the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month to hear from someone who has particular insight in an angle of the economic growth and development of our business community.

This week's meeting we will hear from Euharlee's Mayor Dennis Thayer.
 
Mayor Thayer is completing his first year in office as Mayor of the City of Euharlee in Bartow County.  He has a professional Background in Public Safety with 30 years of fire service experience, currently serving as a Lieutenant Paramedic with Cobb County Fire & Emergency Services in Kennesaw, Georgia.  In addition he provides consulting and project management services to local, state and national level government organizations.  
Additional leadership roles include: Nationally Qualified Type III Logistics Section Chief and serves in that role for the State of Georgia All Hazards Incident Management Team through GEMA.  He is the State of Georgia Representative for MutualAidNet.  Working with FEMA and the International Fire Chiefs this program is building statewide and regional mutual aid programs across the nation.  He also currently serves at the State Coordinator for the Georgia L.A.S.T.  A national cooperative program sponsored by the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation and the U.S. Department of Justice.
He is the Chairman and founding member of the Georgia Fallen Firefighters Foundation and has served on the Board of Directors for the Georgia Firefighters Burn Foundation, The Federation of Burn Camps as well as multiple HOA boards.
Activities & Affiliations include:  International Association of Fire Chiefs, Georgia Association of Fire Chiefs, Metro Atlanta Fire Chiefs Association, Georgia State Firefighters Association, and the Fire Department Safety Officers Association. 
Accomplishments include: Multiple local and regional awards and distinctions along with Cobb County Public Safety Officer of the Year, Georgia Fire Chiefs Association Presidential Award and the Governors Public Safety Award for “Contribution to the Profession”.
