Name: From Polluted to Pristine: Plastic-Free Drinking Water
Date: March 30, 2026
Time: 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM EDT
Event Description:
We consume about 5 grams of microplastics every single week in our water and food supply. That's about the size of a credit card every single week. Ingestion of microplastics has been linked to reproductive and developmental defects in newborns, inflammation and oxidative stress, endocrine (hormone disruption), and cancer. Microplastics and other harmful contaminants are generated in many industrial processes, and are transferred (to sludge, carbon, or filters) and then hauled off site, buried in the ground eventually leaching into the water system. WP&E a Georgia based research and development company has developed and patented a revolutionary process that destroys microplastics and the harmful contaminants in the wastewater, generating 100% microplastic and contaminate free water. The system has been adapted to treat industrial waste water streams, and has already been installed in one community wastewater treatment facility in NE Georgia. Join us to learn more about creating pure pristine microplastic free water for our communities here in Georgia!
