NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLING AUTHOR CRAIG JOHNSON
RETURNS TO BOOTH WESTERN ART MUSEUM
Johnson featured at Art for Lunch program on November 4

CARTERSVILLE, GEORGIA – Back by popular demand, New York Times bestselling author Craig Johnson returns to Booth Western Art Museum on the heels of his newest release, Wait for Signs. Available to the public October 27, 2015, Wait for Signs is a collection of twelve Walt Longmire stories, the inspiration for the hit A&E drama Longmire. Booth Western Art Museum is proud to be the only stop in Georgia during Johnson’s international “Tour of Duty” promotion of Wait for Signs.

At 12:15 pm on Wednesday, November 4, Johnson will present an Art for Lunch program in the Booth Ballroom followed by a book signing in the Museum Store. As an acclaimed writer, Johnson has had the opportunity to speak around the world which has led him to be described as an engaging and entertaining speaker. During the program, Johnson will highlight his career as an author and share his inspiration for the characters, location, and story behind his books, plus his thoughts on the television series inspired by his books and his latest collection of stories.

“In May of 2014, Booth Museum hosted Craig during his promotional tour of Any Other Name,” says Tom Shinall, director of marketing for Booth Western Art Museum. “That event was a huge success for Craig and the Museum. The Booth is a great fit for his tour. He lives in Wyoming and his books and stories are based primarily in the West. It would be hard to find a more fitting place to host his book signing here in Georgia. When Craig reached out to us about his promotional tour of Wait for Signs, he wanted the Booth to be his only stop in Georgia. We are excited to partner with him again this year and hope to continue the relationship into the future,” says Shinall.

Following Art for Lunch, Johnson will be available in the Booth Museum Store from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm to sign copies of Wait for Signs, as well as an assortment of previous volumes from the Walt Longmire mystery series. A Cappella Books will be on site selling copies for guests to have personalized by Johnson. His Walt Longmire mystery series has garnered popular and critical acclaim. Of his works, The Cold Dish was a Dilys Award finalist and the French edition won Le Prix du Polar Nouvel Observateur/BibliObs. Death Without Company won France’s Le Prix 813. Another Man’s Moccasins was the Western Writers of America’s Spur Award winner and the Mountains & Plains Independent Booksellers’ Book of the Year. The Dark Horse was recognized as a Publishers Weekly Best Book of the Year. Junkyard Dogs won the Watson Award for a mystery novel with the best sidekick. Hell Is Empty, selected by Library Journal as the Best Mystery of the Year, was a New York Times best seller, as was As the Crow Flies, The Cold Dish, A Serpent’s Tooth and Any Other Name.

Ten years ago, Craig Johnson wrote his first short story, the Hillerman award winning “Old Indian Trick.” It was his idea to send it out on Christmas Eve to his newsletter subscribers as a free gift. That began the tradition of Johnson sending out a short story every Christmas Eve featuring an episode in Walt Longmire’s life that has not appeared in the novels. Wait for Signs features an introduction by Lou Diamond Phillips, who plays Henry Standing Bear on A&E’s Longmire. The book collects those beloved stories and one entirely new one for the first time in a single volume. With glimpses of Walt’s past from the incident in “Ministerial Aide” when the sheriff is mistaken for a deity, to the hilarious “Messenger,” where the majority of the action takes place in a Port-a-Potty, Wait For Signs is a welcome addition to any Longmire fan’s shelf and a wonderful way to introduce new readers to the fictional world of Absaroka County, Wyoming. Wait for Signs has been published by Viking Penguin.

Admission to Art for Lunch with Craig Johnson is included in the general admission pricing of $10 plus tax for adults, $8 plus tax for seniors (65 and up), $7 plus tax for students, and free for children 12 and under, Booth Museum Members, and active military with ID.
