Join us on March 28, 2019 at 7 p.m. at the Bartow History Museum, as Elyse Butler, Marker Manager for the Georgia Historical Society, explores the major “booms” in American history.  She hopes that people will leave with a better understanding of the Georgia Historical Society and their mission, the Georgia Historical Marker Program (which also had its beginnings in the 1950s), and the impact of the 1950s on today’s modern world.  While at the program enjoy a Moon Pie and some RC Cola.  The program is free for members and included in the price of admission for non-members.

About the Speaker
Ms. Butler coordinates the Georgia Historical Marker Program. She holds a bachelor of arts in Anthropology from Georgia State University, and a masters in History with a graduate certificate in Museum Studies from the University of Missouri - St. Louis. During her graduate program she held a two-year assistantship with Cahokia Mounds State Historic Site as Assistant to the Curator. She recently celebrated her five-year anniversary with the Georgia Historical Society.

About the Bartow History Museum
The Bartow History Museum, located at 4 East Church Street in downtown Cartersville, Georgia, documents the history of northwest Georgia’s Bartow County, spanning more than 200 years since the Cherokee were the area’s primary residents. Artifacts, photographs, documents, and a variety of interactive permanent exhibits tell the story of settlement, Cherokee life and removal, Civil War strife, and lifestyles of years past.  The Bartow History Museum also provides a variety of educational opportunities for adults, children, families, and school groups. Our extensive archives and research library contains photographs, documents, newspapers, rare books, genealogy records, oral history interviews, and more.
