Significant Women of Bartow County

This presentation reviews the lives of a select group extraordinary women who defied expectations and made lasting contributions to Bartow County during its first century. From the groundbreaking achievements of the first female U.S. Senator to the captivating stories of authors, entertainers, and pioneering businesswomen, this lecture celebrates the diverse talents and resilience of these remarkable individuals.

Speaker: Debbie Head

A long-time Cartersville resident, Debbie Head is a dedicated advocate for women’s education and local history. A graduate of Tift College and Georgia Southern University, she retired from Kennesaw State University as Director of Institutional Research. Her work continued nationally through consulting and locally through teaching GED and data management courses.

Inspired by her husband Joe, Debbie developed a passion for Bartow County history, especially the often-overlooked stories of its women. Her efforts have helped preserve and promote the rich heritage of the county. She and Joe have one daughter, Meredith.

Debbie’s lifelong commitment to education, leadership, and historical advocacy makes her a true Significant Woman of Bartow County.
