Bring your family and experience the Bartow History Museum in an exciting new way. Join us for Baked Goods and Backyard Farms, Saturday, August 6, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. This unique event combines our annual bake sale fundraiser with a look at local farming. We want to provide members and visitors the opportunity to dig into history and discover how farming has evolved over the years in Bartow County and its impact on the community, while also giving individuals who have a curiosity in hobby farming, the chance to cultivate their interests.

To make this happen, we are teaming with several local UGA Extension offices, the Bartow County Master Gardeners, and Tony Ross of YNot Apiary who will be with us during the day to share their knowledge on a number of subjects including raising backyard chickens, becoming a bee keeper, planting herbs, and growing your own organic garden. As an added feature, members of the Gordon County Antique Engine and Tractor Club will be displaying an assortment of antique tractors that are sure to delight young and old.

Kids will be able to a ride on a barrel train, visit a petting zoo, and participate in other fun activities, including making a bee bath. No need to worry about lunch, hot dogs and lemonade will be available for purchase. We will even make sure we have some theme appropriate decor on hand in our museum gift shop for those who want to incorporate a touch into their own home.
