Name: Auditions with Pumphouse Players
Date: June 19, 2017
Time: 7:30 PM - 9:00 PM EDT
Event Description:
There are parts for 3 men and 1 woman, ages 40-60. Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script. “Beer For Breakfast” is a coming-of-middle-age comedy, concerning 3 friends on a “guys only” getaway, that is crashed by the wife of an absent friend. Characters include: TJ (lead) – The “Alpha dog” of the group, bigger than life, boisterous, hanging onto his youth and freedom with all he’s got. Tends to dress about 20 years younger than his actual age. MARK (supporting) – The nice guy, the “middle child” of the Gang of Three. Recently unemployed, happily married, but looking to relive some Good Times with his friends, and maybe make a connection that will land him a new job. RICHARD (supporting/character) – the achiever of the group, trim, fit, respected and accomplished, but suffering the aftereffects of a stroke. The right side of his face and body is affected, along with his speech: “S” sounds like “TH”, and there is substantial slurring. In spite of this, Richard is NOT an object of pity or the butt of a joke. He gives as good as he gets, with Mark often acting as his interpreter. JESSIE (lead) – the unexpected visitor. Smart, quick, a bit sarcastic. She is a doctor and a mother, as well as the wife of a missing member of the guys’ group. Despite her occasional snarkiness, we should like her.
