Name: 3rd Annual Black History Parade and Pop-Up
Date: February 24, 2024
Time: 1:30 PM - 6:00 PM EST
Event Description:
On Saturday, February 24th, Black Bartow Events will host the 3rd Annual Black History Parade and Pop-Up in downtown Cartersville. We invite the community to get their lawn chairs ready and come out to enjoy the parade as a family. The parade will feature floats, car clubs, and performances from area fraternities & sororities, local dance teams, the Woodland High School Wildcat Band, Atlanta’s Booker T. Washington High School Band, and from Clayton County, Jonesboro High School Majestic Marching Cardinals. The added entertainment would not be possible without the support of our local business community, specifically, Terry Reid Hyundai. The parade route will leave the Tabernacle Baptist Church parking lot, travel across the Church Street Bridge, make a left on Erwin Street, right on Cherokee Avenue, left on Bartow Street, left on Main Street, left on Tennessee Street, and then return to Tabernacle. This year’s national theme for Black History Month is African Americans & the Arts, spanning the many impacts Black Americans have had on visual arts, music, cultural movements, and more. To celebrate this theme, the Booth Western Art Museum will offer free admission to parade participants and spectators on the day of the parade and will feature a special scavenger hunt guiding guests to African American art pieces throughout the museum. Joining in on the celebration, Bartow History Museum will also offer free admission and a special activity. After the parade, there will be a festival held at Friendship Plaza featuring pop-up shops from locally owned and operated black businesses and other supporters of Black Bartow Events. The festival will also provide entertainment with music by DJ RuckStyles and special guest speakers. Our pop-up vendor list continues to grow but currently features a variety of products being sold, including candles, calendars, art prints, custom made cups, custom made wood products, seafood crab boils, Paparazzi jewelry, gourmet popcorn, and so much more. If you would like more information on participating in the parade or the pop-up shop, email us at BlackBartowEvents@gmal.com. Our mission at Black Bartow Events is to provide the community with quality entertainment that educates the community as a whole while celebrating diversity and black culture. Simply put, we are here to uplift, empower, and unite!
