Payne Pottery Lecture and Raffle Drawing

Bartow History Museum welcomes Ronnie and Brhonda Payne, Bartow County artisans, to the upcoming Evening Lecture on Thursday, July 31, 2014.  Ronnie and Brhonda will discuss the history of pottery in Bartow County, potters in Northwest Georgia, as well as their lives and careers in pottery and jewelry making.  They will also show examples and photographs of their work.

Ronnie got an early start in pottery, making his first piece at age 17 at Cass High School.  Over the years he has developed his art and skills, and he apprenticed with Ron Cooper for several years.  He opened his business in 2001 and began creating pottery full time in 2004.  Brhonda designed jewelry for Stein’s Department Store for a number of years.  After the store closed, she began incorporating pottery into her jewelry.

The lecture will take place at the Bartow History Museum on Thursday, July 31, at 7 p.m.  Following the presentation, winners will be drawn in the museum’s fundraising raffle.  Tickets are available now for $15 or 3 for $40.  Raffle prizes include a Sony digital camera, a ticket for the upcoming Civil War bus tour, and three pieces of Payne pottery.  All proceeds benefit the programming and exhibitions of Bartow History Museum.

The Bartow History Museum is located at 4 E. Church Street in downtown Cartersville.  For more information on this and other BHM programs, call 770-382-3818, ext. 6288 or visit our website at www.bartowhistorymuseum.org
